ROGO stands for Real with Ourselves, God and Others, the founding mission and vision of Sandals Church.

65% of churches in America are plateaued or declining, an average of 10,000 churches close each year and 59% of millennials that were raised in the church have dropped out.

We exist to replant dying churches. We do this by developing the two critical components of healthy churches; the people that lead them and the places where they gather. We merge with struggling churches, remodel and upgrade the facilities, and implement our proven ministry leadership model so that their legacies can continue with our resources and support. We also plant Sandals Church campus locations to further reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sandals Church – Established 1997

In 1997, Pastor Matt Brown had a dream to plant a church where people could be real with themselves, God and others. He shared this dream with his boss and left that meeting without a job. Soon after, Matt moved to Riverside with his wife Tammy and their infant daughter with the desire and drive to share Christ with anyone that would listen.

That summer, Matt and Tammy met in their living room with eight other people, including Matt and Tammy’s nine-month-old daughter, to begin the process of planting what is now Sandals Church. Nearly ten years after the first living room meeting, the congregation of Sandals Church surpassed 2,000 people, a few years later 5000 and today Sandals Church is a growing multi-site church serving an average of 12,000 people every weekend across all campuses – 5,263 people attending weekly at Hunter Park, our Broadcast Campus and including a fast-growing online campus which serves 25,000 people each week.

Rogo Residency

The Residency Program was created to further develop experienced campus pastors and worship leaders to be ready when God calls them to one of our new campuses. Our residency program currently has two campus pastors and two worship leaders in the program. Our goal is to increase the number of residents in 2020 from four to eight.
